Dr. Arthur and Mary Buryk Aufderheide Wedding Anniversary

Dr. Arthur Carl Aufderheide and Mary Lillian Buryk were married on 26 January 1946 in Minneapolis. Both Art and Mary were born in 1923. Mary was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Buryk of International Falls. Arthur's parents were: Herman J. Aufderheide, formerly secretary to the late Governor Floyd B. Olson, and Esther Sannwald Aufderheide, New Ulm.

Mary, a graduate of International Falls High School, completed her nurses' training at the University of Minnesota in June 1945, receiving a B.S. and R.N. degree. She was currently teaching contagion nursing as well as doing general supervision at General Hospital in Minneapolis, according to the Minneapolis newspaper writeup of the wedding.

Arthur graduated from Dr. Martin Luther College, attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, and was currently a senior medical student at the University of Minnesota. The article continued, that he was about to graduate from the UM Medical School on 21 March 1946, and then would take his internship at Rochester General hospital in New York State.

Today, Art and Mary continue to lead very active lives; Art teaches Pathology and Labratory Medicine at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and shares his passion for paleopathology with Mary. Dr. Aufderheide was a member of the 1967 Plaisted North Pole Expedition. Mary has played violin with the Duluth Orchestra for many years.

Art and Mary's three children are married (all in 1988): Patricia married Stephen Schwartzman, Tom married Anne Robertson, and Walter married Densie Holt.
